The first phase of the RIVER Project – Project to Improve the “Smallholder Rubber Plantation Resilience and Rubber Value Chain Enhancement” -RIVER Project

The first phase of the RIVER Project, which has been implemented in the country for the past three years under the FASEP assistance scheme of the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Rehabilitation of France, was completed on the 20th of January under the patronage of the Minister of Plantations and Community Infrastructure, Hon. Samantha Vidyaratne.

The Director General of the Rubber Development Department, Mr. Rohana S. Hapugaswatte, the Director of the Sri Lanka Rubber Research Institute, Dr. Sarojini Fernando, and the Director of the Rubber Development Division, Ms. Pavithra Gamage, participated in this event. The discussion was successfully concluded with the participation of Mr. Raphael Hara, Managing Director of Ksapa Company in France, Mr. Atul RENAVIKAR, CEO of Michelin Lanka (Pvt) Ltd in Sri Lanka; and Mr. Thilak Kariyawasam, Director of LOAM.

Here, it is commendable that over the past three years, over 6,000 small rubber plantation owners have been provided with vocational training and digitalization solutions to improve the social status of small rubber plantation owners.
