A two-day training programme on household-level rubber product manufacturing was held on September 24 and 25 at the Bibile Field Office. The programme was organised to enhance the knowledge and skills of rubber farmers while introducing value-added products that can increase the value of their rubber harvest.
Representing the Rubber Research Institute of Sri Lanka (RRISL), Dr. Sampath and his team provided technical and practical training on rubber-based products, including the production of medicinal rubber slippers.
A total of 25 rubber farmers participated in the programme, representing the villages of Ethimadumawa, Hamapola, Maduwatta, Kanawegalla, Kotagama, Kotabowa, and Udakiruwa.
The programme was successfully conducted under the coordination of Ajanta Palihawadana, Special Projects Director at LOAM, with the contribution of Ayoma Tennakoon, RIVER Project Manager, and Tharindu Deshan, Field Assistant.
